Company
Rautalammin Viilutuote Oy is a veneer mill that began producing Finnish sliced birch veneer in January 2008. Our facilities and production lines are brand new, representing state of the art development in the field. Even though the company is new, our entrepreneurs have extensive experience since 1991 in producing and refining high quality birch. The same property also holds our sister company Rautalammin Koivutuote Oy, which produces high quality sawn birch timber.
Raw material
Our location in Rautalampi is the best possible, as we are situated in the middle of an excellent birch growth area. We purchase the major bulk of our raw materials directly from forest owners, guaranteeing undisturbed wood delivery and quality surveillance from the very beginning of the process. Rautalammin Viilutuote Oy also purchases the raw material for its sister company Rautalammin Koivutuote Oy, which produces high quality sawn birch timber. We are the only birch refinery in Europe that has combined the production of sliced birch veneer and sawn birch timber.
Production
Our production lines and machinery are brand new. In our thermal plant, we burn the refuse wood from the saw mill and veneer factory in order to heat our vats and drying lines. The core of the factory comprises of a vertical slicer attached to a press dryer. After the dryer comes a clipper line with its measuring instruments.
Delivery/Sales
Rautalammin Viilutuote Oy produces sliced birch veneer form Finnish birch wood. Our typical product is 0,55 mm thick sliced birch veneer, but other thicknesses are also possible. Due to our flexible production, we can sort the veneer according to our customers’ wishes. In our first business year we have already delivered over 1 000 000 m² of sliced birch veneer to our customers in Europe. Delivery across all Europe is generally possible within a few days.
